General Questions about Audio Damage and our policies.
1.
Why are there no demos?
We don't offer demos of our products. We could offer all kinds of reasoning for this, based upon our lengthy experience in the music software industry, with amusing anecdotes and such, but the simple fact of the matter is that we don't, and will not for the foreseeable future. We offer a no-questions-asked money back guarantee instead.
2.
What if I don't like the product, or it doesn't work for me?
We offer a 100% no-questions-asked return policy for 30 days from your purchase, and you can exchange the plugin for 120 days from purchase. As far as we know, this is the most liberal return policy in the industry, and almost unheard of for software. All you have to do is drop us a line, and we'll get you sorted out.
3.
Do you offer bundle deals?
No, sorry. Our products are quite reasonably priced by the standards of our industry, and bundles just create support problems.

How about 64-bit versions? Or VST3?
We are a small company, with a large product line. While this would seem to make sense from a business perspective, when it comes to things like upgrading our entire product line for a new format, things take a bit of time. Discord3 is the first product to be 64-bit compatible (currently only on Windows) but by the end of 2010 we fully expect our entire product line to be 64-bit compatible in all formats.
Regarding VST3, that format is supported by a very small number of hosts (only 2 that we're aware of, as of this writing). We don't generally support formats that only run on one or two hosts. When it is more widely adopted, we'll consider building products for it.
12.
Why don't I see any reference to RTAS on your site?
We do not now, nor will we ever, make RTAS plug-ins. Our products are tested with the FXpansion VST->RTAS wrapper, and work fine with the wrapper, to the best of our knowledge. If you make a purchase and find this not to be the case, we will happily issue you a refund, but we provide only limited support for this scenario.
13.
Do your products work on Linux-based hosts?
We can't rightly say. Truthfully, some people have reported to us success in this regard, but we don't know how the hell they did it. Your mileage may (and probably will) vary.
14.
Does Plugin X run on European voltage?
Believe it or not, a surprising number of people write us thinking that our products (especially those with 3D interfaces) are, like, real hardware and stuff. We have one exchange about Phase Two which will go down in history as the all-time most ridiculous email conversation ever in the history of music software; we didn't understand that the guy thought Phase Two was hardware, and the guy couldn't understand our answers because he's barely computer-savvy, and both sides got incredibly frustrated. Anyways, for all those people: all our products are software plug-ins for digital audio workstations, and they are delivered digitally. If you don't understand any part of the preceding sentence, you should really be shopping somewhere else.

What happened to Plugin X? It used to be in your store, and now it isn't!
We are a small company, and prefer to devote our resources to new development and keeping our current line updated. Some of our earliest products were written in such a way as to make porting them to the current VST and AU standards quite time-consuming. We tend to remove these products from our catalog if they didn't meet sales expectations, rather than re-writing them to our current standards. If you are a user of one of these earliest Audio Damage products (the Mayhem suite, Deverb) and are upgrading to a new system on which these products won't work, drop us a line and we'll see if we can't make their passing less painful.
18.
How are your products delivered?
When you purchase an Audio Damage product, you get a pair of download links in your account. These downloads are quite small, usually one to two megs; the OSX download provides one installer that gives you the AU and VST versions, and the Windows installer puts a VST in the appropriate place. Nothing is mailed; that's how we keep our costs so low.
19.
No, seriously, I want to use your plug-ins with ProTools.
We have tested our product line with the FXpansion VST to RTAS wrapper (where "tested" is equal to "made sure it instanced and worked") and as far as we are aware, all our products work fine in the wrapper. Your mileage may vary, depending largely on your system configuration and the versions of PT and the wrapper you are running. We provide only limited support in this situation, though.
