Discord4 is a stereo pitch shifter plugin by Audio Damage for macOS, Windows, Linux, and iOS. Each channel has its own pitch shifter, delay, bandpass filter, and feedback, and every repeat runs back through the shifter, so the same plugin can double a vocal, stack fifths into an arpeggio, or send echoes spiraling up or down. Three engines set the character: Vintage, modeled on the Eventide H910 and H949; Modern, for cleaner shifting; and Granular, which chops the signal into grains and has a Chaos knob. Shift up to three octaves in either direction, by the cent or locked to semitones, or play the shift from a MIDI keyboard. Two flexible LFOs move pitch, delay time, and filter frequency, a stereo reverb with Freeze sits inside the feedback loop, and a preset browser with folders, favorites, and 50 factory presets keeps it all within reach. Available as VST3, AU, AAX, and CLAP for desktop, and AUv3 for iPhone and iPad. Priced at $29 USD with no DRM, no subscription, and a perpetual license.

Features
-
Three pitch-shift engines. Vintage (P1) is modeled on the Eventide H910 and H949, Modern (P2) is cleaner and more transparent, and Granular (G2) cuts the signal into grains with size, interval, and Chaos controls. Vintage and Modern have a buffer control from 32 to 2048 samples for fine-tuning the character of the shift.
-
True stereo, two of everything. Each channel has its own shifter, delay, filter, feedback, and pan position. Set the two sides completely differently, or link them so the right follows the left.
-
Six octaves of shift. Up to three octaves up or down. Set it by the cent for detuning, doubling, and chorus, or lock it to semitones for harmonies.
-
Delays inside the loop. Up to two seconds per side, free-running or tempo-synced, with feedback and cross-feedback. Every repeat passes back through the shifter, so echoes can climb or fall in pitch. Saturation in the loop keeps runaway feedback in check.
-
Bandpass filters. A filter in each feedback path, set from an XY pad, to darken, thin out, or focus the repeats.
-
Reverb with Freeze. A stereo reverb inside the feedback loop for shimmer and wash, with size, color, and mix controls. Freeze holds the tail indefinitely.
-
Two flexible LFOs. Three controls (Wave, Skew, and Warp) shape a wide range of waveforms. Run them free from 0.01 to 14 Hz or synced to tempo, and send each one to pitch, delay time, and filter frequency on both sides, with separate depths.
-
MIDI Shift. Play the shift amount from a MIDI keyboard, with pitch bend, for harmonies and pitch effects you can perform.
-
Preset browser. Folders, favorites, and a preset bar for stepping through sounds, with 50 factory presets from everyday doubling and delay to the thoroughly strange. Presets also appear in your DAW's own preset menu and in CLAP hosts' preset browsers, and CLAP hosts get remote control pages for hardware controllers.
-
Universal preset system. Cross-platform XML-based presets compatible across all plugin formats and operating systems. Save over the Default preset to start every new instance from your own settings.
-
Resizable vector UI. HiDPI and Retina aware, scales cleanly from a laptop panel to a large display, and new instances open at the size you last used.
Sound Design Ideas
Detune the two sides a few cents in opposite directions with a short delay for a wide doubler or classic ADT. Set one side a fifth up, sync the delays, and raise the feedback so each repeat climbs another step. Use Vintage for the gritty shift of the first digital pitch shifters, or Modern for cleaner octaves and fifths. Keep the reverb in the loop for shimmer, then hit Freeze to hold a pad under the part. Switch to Granular, shorten the grains, and turn up Chaos to scatter a vocal into a cloud. Turn on MIDI Shift to play harmonies from a keyboard, or ride the pitch wheel for bends. Drop it on a snare for a pitched, filtered slap, or across a whole mix when the track needs to come apart.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Discord4?
Discord4 is a stereo pitch shifter plugin: two pitch shifters, one per channel, each with its own delay, bandpass filter, and feedback. It has three pitch-shift engines (Vintage, Modern, and Granular), a range of three octaves up or down, two flexible LFOs, cross-feedback between the channels, a stereo reverb with Freeze inside the feedback loop, and MIDI control of the shift amount. It covers everything from subtle doubling and chorus to spiraling pitch echoes and granular chaos.
What pitch-shift engines does Discord4 include?
Three. Vintage (P1) is modeled on the Eventide H910 and H949 and has their grainy, glitchy character. Modern (P2) is a cleaner, more transparent shifter. Both have a buffer control from 32 to 2048 samples that changes the character of the shift. Granular (G2) cuts the signal into grains from 15 to 100 ms long, with an interval control and a Chaos knob that scrambles them, for anything from soft clouds to complete destruction.
Can I play the pitch shift from a MIDI keyboard?
Yes. Turn on MIDI Shift and send Discord4 MIDI notes from your DAW: middle C means no shift, and each key above or below it shifts both channels by a semitone, up to three octaves either way. Pitch bend adds up to two semitones in either direction. It turns Discord4 into a playable pitch shifter for vocals, guitars, and synths.
What's new in Discord4 4.2?
Version 4.2 is rebuilt on current SDKs and adds a new preset browser with folders and favorites, a preset bar for stepping through presets, 30 new factory presets for 50 in all, presets in your DAW's own preset menu, and CLAP preset browsing and remote control pages. Tempo-synced LFOs now move smoothly at the chosen note value, the window remembers its size, and a long list of bugs is fixed. Your existing user presets carry over.
Does Discord4 work on Linux?
Yes. Discord4 is available as CLAP, VST3, and LV2 for Ubuntu 20 and later. macOS, iOS, and Windows builds are also available. All Audio Damage plugins are released for Linux alongside macOS, iOS, and Windows.
What plugin formats does Discord4 support?
CLAP, VST3, and AAX on Windows 10 or newer. CLAP, VST3, AAX, and AudioUnit on Intel and Apple Silicon macOS 10.13 or newer. CLAP, VST3, and LV2 on Ubuntu 20 or later. AUv3 on iOS 16 or later. All desktop builds are 64-bit.
What makes Discord4 different from a standard pitch shifter plugin?
A standard pitch shifter moves a signal up or down and leaves it there. Discord4 puts a shifter, delay, and filter on each channel inside a feedback loop with a reverb, so every repeat is shifted again: echoes climb or fall, intervals stack into arpeggios, and Freeze can hold the result as a pad. Add three engines, two LFOs, cross-feedback, and MIDI control, and it is a sound-design tool as much as a pitch shifter.
Does Discord4 use copy protection, require a subscription, or need iLok?
No. Like all Audio Damage products, Discord4 uses no copy protection of any kind. You can install your purchase on every machine you own. It is a perpetual license, not a subscription, and there is no online activation requirement after install.
