EVIL OTTO

Free OTT Compressor

Evil Otto free OTT compressor plugin interface

Evil Otto is our free take on the OTT-style multiband compressor: aggressive upward-and-downward compression that squashes a sound into place and makes everything feel louder, denser, and a little unhinged. Three bands, independent thresholds, gain-reduction metering, and a sidechain input. Drop it on a bus, a synth, a drum loop, or a whole mix and lean on it as hard as you like.

It is genuinely free on desktop. No trial, no nag screen, no DRM, and no expiration date waiting to ruin your afternoon. The iOS version carries a small price because supporting that ecosystem isn't free for us, but the macOS, Windows, and Linux builds cost you nothing but an email address. The native Linux build ships right alongside the others, same as everything we make.

FAQ

Is Evil Otto really free?
Yes. The desktop versions for macOS, Windows, and Linux are a free download in exchange for joining our mailing list. No trial period, no DRM, no expiration. The iOS AUv3 version is a small paid purchase in the App Store.

What is OTT compression?
OTT is a style of aggressive multiband compression that applies upward and downward compression at the same time, pushing quiet parts up and loud parts down across three frequency bands. The result is a dense, forward, hyper-detailed sound that's a staple of electronic and bass music. Evil Otto gives you that with per-band thresholds, gain-reduction metering, and a sidechain input.

What formats and platforms does it support?
VST3, AU, AAX, and CLAP on macOS (Universal Binary 2); VST3, AAX, and CLAP on Windows 10 or newer; CLAP, VST3, and LV2 on Ubuntu 20 or later; and AUv3 on iOS 13 or newer. A 64-bit DAW is required on desktop.
